Jim Davis | chair
Jim is a retired federal law enforcement official serving with the U.S. Department of Justice for twenty-five years. He previously served as the elected sheriff of Hoke County, the Chair of the Hoke County Democratic Party from 2017-2019, and continues to serve on many public service boards. He is also the owner of Sandhills Security & Investigations Inc.
Soña Cooper | 1st Vice chair
Soña Cooper is a lifelong member of the Democratic Party her active support began during her college years when she supported Jessie Jackson’s Presidential Campaign. Over the years, she has worked behind the scenes registering voters, staffing polling locations, providing transportation to the polls, and has worked as Spring Lake Precinct Captain for the past two years. Soña worked for years in support of her three adult children’s activities throughout their childhood, and continues to support her church’s tutoring program and other activities in the Spring Lake Community. In 2017, she was elected to the Spring Lake Board of Aldermen. Sona has three children, two granddaughters and a grand puppy.
Elaine Coats | 2nd Vice chair
Taylor Beckett | 3rd Vice chair
Born in Millersburg Ohio, Taylor moved to Kannapolis, NC, in 2014. In 2017 he got involved in politics after founding the Young Democrats of Cabarrus County and was elected to be its president. He would guide the chapter to new heights and would organize the group three consecutive years for the first time in over thirty years. In 2018 YDCC was awarded the YDNC ‘Chapter of the Year’ award for their efforts. He served as YDNC Rural Caucus Chair from 2018 to 2019, where he focused on providing support to rural chapters. In early 2019 he was elected to his first term as a SEC member and his third term as YDCC president. He attends UNC-Charlotte working for a double major in Political Science & History.
CHRISTINA DAVIS-MCCOY | Secretary
Christina is an active Democrat. Over the past twenty-two years, she has served the party as a resident of Hoke County on the SEC, District and local precinct levels. She previously served the eighth district prior to redistricting in a 2nd VP position and as Secretary. She currently chairs the Blue Springs Precinct in Hoke County and remains fully engaged in Community as an original co-founder of the Blue Springs-Hoke County Community Development Corporation that was established in 1995.
kerry Arnold | Treasurer
Originally from Connecticut, Kerry moved to Pinehurst in 2014. An active Democrat, Kerry served as the 2nd Vice Chair of the Moore County Democratic Party from 2017-2019 and was treasurer of the Moore County Democratic Women until 2019. She now serves as the assistant treasurer and Membership Chair of the Moore Democratic Women.
